OCOBAR is a music-collective based in The Netherlands. It consists of Cok van Vuuren on many guitars and strings, Rob Wijtman on the drums and percussion and finally his brother Bart Wijtman on the bass and keys. All members are well-respected Dutch musicians and famous for their work with artists in theaters like Fay Lovsky, Freek de Jonge, Frank Lammers, Wilfried de Jong and Ricky Koole. During the past couple of years the band had a weekly television spot as backingband for one of the best sports programs on Dutch Television: VPRO’s ‘Holland Sport’ with Wilfried de Jong.
Apart from all this theater and television work, the band works in their studio in Rotterdam where they create lots of contemporary music. OCOBAR’s music is a remarkable combination of divers, film-based compositions, especially suitable for use in documentaries, commercials, TV shows and theatrical productions. But….
In 2011, after years of creating music for others, the time was right for Ocobar to present their first full album ‘Kamiki’ which was very well received by the leading Dutch press. Now the time has come for Ocobar to hit the streets and be in the spotlights themselves.
Bart Wijtman says: ‘Playing this kind of music is too much fun and whenever we’re on stage, something remarkably happens. It’s hard to describe but it’s that magic, that energy. Not only the three of us have a great time and so much fun, the people seem to love it whenever we taken them on our musical journey. So it’s time for us to go out there, play some festivals and theaters’. And that’s exactly what they’re about to do.
